Grainger's history is on full display in the massive headquarters lobby.
W. W. Grainger in Lake Forest was sitting on a 100-year history of rich heritage and diverse products that had never been fully researched, catalogued, or displayed. Teaming with the Cairo Design Group, we ventured into a 5-month project where we designed environmental graphics and displays for nineteen glass cases and the surrounding atrium area. The unveiling took place at the Grainger headquarters in Lake Forest.
The display cases were designed and constructed by Vincent, Lynn & Lee of Chicago. The project included designing the exhibit theme; research, writing and editing the historical text; constructing physical pieces, large photographic images, surface mounted graphics, display stands. And along the way, lots of searching on Ebay® for additional museum pieces needed to complete the collection.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the entire company, including the venerable Chairman and the son of founder, W. W. Grainger, David Grainger.
